This pattern is an example of the "papal" cut so called because it is a derivative of the Pope pattern and its defining panel cuts. The Pope pattern was commissioned by Pope Pius XI in 1923 while its offspring Lady Hamilton was first produced in 1934. Lady Hamilton has become one of Moser’s superlative patterns and continues to be very popular to this day.
